we've been quiet, spending a lot of time in the studio working on our new album. it's shaping up nicely...
in the meantime, we decided to put together two mixes that highlight some of our non-Passalacqua work. give 'em a spin: (artwork: Nathan Bortz)

first, thanks to everyone that's listened to/purchased CHURCH! means a lot. if you haven't yet, it's available to stream on Soundcloud, and digital/physical copies are available on Bandcamp.
Walter Wasacz came down to Burnside Garden last month to talk to us about who we are and what we do. click the picture for the article:
CHURCH /
after two long years, CHURCH is finally here. thank you for your patience.
Ernest Miller's CHURCHes /
photo: Steve Thrasha
months back, Jamin Townsley (1/2 of The Right Brothers) searched "#CHURCH" on instagram. he came across local photographer Ernest Miller's work, and sent me the photo that would end up being the cover for our new album.
at our record release party a few weeks ago, Ernest had 7 churches on display, each representing a song from our forthcoming project. he is currently selling these prints, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the James & Grace Lee Boggs School in Detroit.
Captured structures stand between the ground and the sky resonating light, a symbol of a hopeful Detroit. With nothing but love and a camera, I hope to share a vision of good stuff lifting us higher. - E.M.
images below. only one of each will ever be made!

THE BAPTISM /
"'Baptism', both aurally and in the film’s incendiary visuals, encapsulates the dichotomies at play throughout the album, sounding at once like the scorching of the earth and the cultivation of new life in its ashes." - PopMatters.com
we're live, y'all.
Next Week /
Tuesday, August 12th. "The Baptism" premieres.
if you're in the Detroit area and can't wait that long, The Right Brothers will be holding a scavenger hunt that includes all of their work, as well as a few tracks from CHURCH. click the poster below for more information.

"THE BAPTISM" premiere /
we'll be premiering our new video, "THE BAPTISM", at REVIVAL on the 26th. directed by The Right Brothers - Andy Miller and Jamin Townsley - this is "...a short film that touches on many fears and anxieties people are feeling in this country and in this city especially."
those Right Bros can make a hell of a trailer, i tell you what.
...now with even more Eagle. /
Open Mike Eagle has been added to our show on the 26th, and we're super stoked about that. if you aren't familiar with his work, check out his new album Dark Comedy right now.
